Class Overviews

PILATES MAT CLASSES

*RISE Authentic Pilates instructors will ensure your safe and proper technique while advancing you forward as your body is ready. (Limited to 10 participants.)

FOUNDATIONAL LEVEL MAT (Beginners)

Pilates Mat uses your own bodyweight as resistance and may incorporate a variety of props (magic circle, weighted poles, hand weights, balls) based on the class and teacher’s discretion. The mat work was designed to follow a set sequence, where one exercise prepares the body to perform the next exercise. As a beginner, you will learn the foundational exercises that will carry you through the whole system focusing on finding your “box,” alignment, and strengthening your core. Some approved modifications can be used at the basic level to build your foundation and strength. Because the Mat is performed without the springs and apparatus for support and assistance, it truly takes the most control.

CORE LEVEL MAT (Intermediate)

In this intermediate level class we require that clients have become accomplished Foundational Mat students and are ready to take their strength and control to the next level! You will layer your Foundational Mat work with a larger variety of intermediate mat exercises and will start to learn the sequence of exercises and flow on the mat. Focus on a two-way stretch and control will be emphasized.

ADVANCED LEVEL MAT*

In this class we require that students have mastered the Core Mat and are experienced Pilates practitioners. Students work at an advanced pace and in unison, while challenging their flow, concentration, control, strength, stamina and endurance. Advanced students are expected to complete the work with no modifications necessary. (*Instructor approval required)

PILATES REFORMER CLASSES

FOUNDATIONAL LEVEL REFORMER (Beginners)

What is The Reformer? It’s a carefully engineered piece of equipment designed by Joseph Pilates that will be fundamental to your Classical Pilates practice and literally reform your body. Its adjustable springs provide guidance and resistance that will tone, strengthen, and lengthen your different muscles.

In this small class–never more than four students–we’ll teach you the order and form of the beginner Reformer exercises in the Pilates method focusing on symmetry and alignment, strengthening your core, finding your two-way stretch, and equipment set up. And, of course, we’ll get you sweating!

CORE LEVEL REFORMER (Intermediate)

In this intermediate level class we require that clients have become accomplished Pilates students in the Foundational Reformer system and are ready for their next challenge! We will introduced students to a more intermediate repertoire and order of Reformer exercises that will start to challenge their knowledge and strength. In Reformer classes students work through a sequence of appropriately leveled Reformer exercises in unison. Working against spring resistance on the Reformer with your two-way stretch will improve your overall alignment, muscle tone, strength, flexibility, and stamina.

ADVANCED LEVEL REFORMER*

In this class we require that students have become experienced Pilates practitioners and know the order and set up of the Reformer exercises for the intermediate system and higher leveled exercises. Students work at an advanced pace and in unison, while challenging their flow, concentration, control, strength, stamina, and endurance. Advanced students are expected to complete the work with no modifications necessary. (*Instructor approval required)

PILATES EQUIPMENT CLASSES

MIXED EQUIPMENT CLASS (Foundational and Core Levels available) 

Our mixed equipment classes use a variety of apparatus during one session focusing on the Tower Wall Units and Wunda Chairs. Classes will be offered in both Foundational Level (Beginner) and Core Level (Intermediate) to accommodate the level of Pilates you are practicing and always keep you on your toes! We tailor each class to meet our students’ specific needs as well as specific outcomes and goals. You will receive personalized attention in this small group dynamic, but will be challenged by more independence and responsibility.

PILATES 360*

RISE up to meet your new CORE challenge! Designed for the Intermediate and Advanced Pilates student, this is a high energy mixed-equipment class that circuits throughout Reformer, Tower, and Wunda Chair exercises within 50 minutes! (*Required to have a minimum of Core Level experience on all Pilates apparatus)

CORE LEVEL CHAIR CHALLENGE* 

It is truly amazing how many variations of Pilates exercises within the system are possible using this versatile piece of equipment. This Intermediate Level class is fast paced and provides a full body workout for Core and Advanced Level students. The Wunda chair is tiny but mighty and packs quite a punch! (*Instructor approval required)

ADVANCED TOWER CHALLENGE*

Tower Wall Unit exercises are inspired by the Classical Cadillac repertoire of Joe’s Pilates method. Advanced Tower exercises will further challenge your endurance, stability, and mobility. This fast-paced class will make you sweat and is only for the highest Core and Advanced Level students. (*Instructor approval required)

GYROTONIC® / GYROKINESIS®

The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® includes work on the GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower and other specialized equipment, as well as GYROKINESIS®, the choreographed exercise routine that is performed using the stools and mats. The method was created by Romanian-born Hungarian ballet dancer, Juliu Horvath. In the early 1980’s he began teaching a new movement system “Yoga for Dancers”, and later develop the GYROTONIC® Method, and his world-renowned Gyrotonic equipment. The system focuses on all of the waving, spiraling, bending, and arching movements that make our spines happy and the whole body healthy and resilient. The GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods quickly gained an international following, becoming popular in Europe, Asia, and Australia, as well as in the USA. The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® has now grown to encompass over 7800 Trainers in 52 countries. Deanna is one of about 2500 trainers who are certified to teach both GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®.
